Finally someone to vote for (or against)

Conservative Ronald Leung in Burnaby-Douglas and Liberal Gerry Lenoski in Burnaby-New Westminster are the first names to get through the application paperwork. Candidates only have a few more days to get their names on the ballots.

Hurry up people! Voting just encourages them but acclaimations are worse.

Hopefully the red tape will keep out some of the loony fringe candidates who demand equal time at All Candidates Meetings when they don't have a hope in hell of winning.

Sorry isn't going to happen with those fringe candidates.

Bill Cunningham will get equal time.

Want to attend a real all candidate's meeting?

Go to the Capitol Hill Community one, it's legendary for both the candidates and the attending public tearing the candidates apart.

You know you've made it in politics when you won a debate at the Capitol Hill Community Centre All Candidate's Meeting.

Some candidates had to be dragged in there by their feet while they were kicking and screaming.

The Capital Hill debate has too many candidates and at the end of the night the candidates who have a chance of winning are not heard from much as equal time is given to Rhino, Independent candidates or other Flakes.

There should be a debate with every candidate who wants to attend and then another one with the serious candidates.

GRN supporters can not have themselves vote for "Stephen Harper" and his withdrawal will probably help NDP incumbent.

I am still waiting to here GRN say "I think Bill Cunningham should be elected", hey, we like the GRN are just looking at this election realistically no? That's right, not really.

Anyways, without NDP beside Bill Siksay's name, I dont think people will even begin to recognize him, and I have to give Bill Cunningham for personally standing out the most. But if we believe this is an election of the parties. I think it is obvious who holds the edge. Bill Cunningham is by far more strategic of the three, but unfortunately he belonged to the wrong party, (and lose way too many times). But he is young and he has time. A win, however, for Dr. Leung does seem inevitable, no matter how NDP supporters want to craft themselves thousands of scenarios of how Bill Siksay can get re-elected.

But he is young and he has time.

Sure he does. He hasn't had a real job since he left the TV branch at Willingdon and Halifax.

Even though we all know that Dr. Leung is the one to beat, that was a cheap shot on Bill Cunningham. He just got married for goodness sake. Some NDP hackers are taking it personally, and hopefully when they lose, they are not going to take it too personally.

So he got married. So what?

The fact remains that Cunningham has been living on political jobs since leaving the TD Bank were he had a real respectable job.

Will Cunningham's supporters not take it personally when they lose to Siskay?

The guy some bloggers here love to call "Billy Boy" has the best credentials. Bill Siksay is a two time standin for Svend Robinson and has had an easy time of it the last two elections. He is no Svend. This election is different.

Dr. Leung looks good on paper, but has never been involved in a Burnaby activity in his life. Look at his website. Other than the riding name, does it mention Burnaby at all? Has he ever made a presentation before city council? on any subject at all? He has a long history of involvement in the chinese community and in Vancouver politics. Even his opposition to the insite drug centre is a Vancouver issue not a Burnaby one. All great stuff but is that what we want in an MP?

Dr. Leung looks to me like a David Emmerson wanabe. He is above all the local stuff. He just needs a riding. He may have lived here for twenty years but can he really be called someone interested in Burnaby? Proof needed I would say.

No he doesn't. He's been a political hack for years and got the nomination given to him twice.

He has very good creditials in banking, but his supposedly best credentials when it comes to being an MP is questionable. He would end up being an Opposition MP if elected.

Actually he was. He was Svend's Constituency Assistant and knows the value of assiting citizens with federal government matters.

His website is a cookie cutter website provided by the Conservative Party. It's not a custom designed website.

I wonder how many Burnaby residents really believe that closing Insite will make their community a better place.

Heck, Derek Corrigan only supports Insite because it helps keep the drug problem in the DTES.

So, who needs a Tory MP when our NDP mayor already covers those bases?

There's no Insite in Burnaby.

Heck, Derek Corrigan only supports Insite because it helps keep the drug problem in the DTES.

The drug problem is everywhere, not just in the DTES.

So, who needs a Tory MP when our NDP mayor already covers those bases?

Because a Tory MP can get more done. A government MP can do alot.

An opposition MP can only talk.

A want to be MP like Bill Cunningham just goes to bun tosses and tries to convince people he is electable despite being a member of a dismal federal party.
