To the Max

The Burnaby-Douglas Tories are celebrating summer with a fundraiser with Industry Minister Maxime Bernier in a week and a half. (Will Burnaby business boss Darren Entwistle pony up for the event?)
This event comes fast on the heels of third-time Liberal candidate Billy Cunningham's fundraiser with Gerard Kennedy. The event was held down south in Burnaby-New Westminster at Burnaby Village Museum and one skeptical Liberal commented that it was an appropriate venue given it has a carosel that just goes round-and-round in circles.

Let the fundraising battle begins as the municipal and provincial politicians in the riding start choosing sides.

"Let the fundraising battle begins as the municipal and provincial politicians in the riding start choosing sides."

Why would there be a need?

BCA Councillors = NDP

Lee Rankin - federal Liberal
Garth Evans - federal Liberal or Cons.
Gary Begin - federal Liberal or Cons.

Richard Lee - federal Liberal
John Nuraney - federal Liberal
Raj Chouhan - NDP
Harry Bloy - federal Conservative.

We are only talking about BD here.

Harry Bloy - pro-Cons.
Richard Lee - pro-Cons./neutral
T/B - pro-Cons. (proxy war vs Bill Siksay).
John Nuraney - really does not matter anymore, likely neutral.

Maybe we will be able to see some surprise appearances at the fundraising event.

"Harry Bloy - pro-Cons."

Wrong. IS Conservative.

"Richard Lee - pro-Cons./neutral"

Wrong. Federal Liberal.

"T/B - pro-Cons. (proxy war vs Bill Siksay)."

Wrong. Mix of Liberal and Conservative, but mostly Federal Liberal. Except Churchill. But almost all political opportunist.

"John Nuraney - really does not matter anymore, likely neutral."

Correct, but tends to support federal Liberals. Good friend of
Mobina Jaffer (Senator who shouldn't have been a Senator in the first place)

"Maybe we will be able to see some surprise appearances at the fundraising event. "

Really doesn't matter since the civic and provincial politicians will go where there are potential supporters. Even if a specific politician does not show up at one of these things, it is not indicitive of his/her political orientation.

The smart politician will be seen at both federal Liberal and the Conservative bun tosses.

Seen that more than once.

Actually, Harry Bloy is supporting Billy Cunningham...so says Harry's facebook profile and a story by Public Eye Online.

Figures.

Harry will support anyone who he can get something out of.

But Harry's supporting of Bill Cunningham will not guarantee a Billy Boy win.

Facebook doesn't have much merit
in terms of credibility since people will write anything to gain popularity.

Facebook endorsement, ha, one wonders how many tory "endorsements" Stephen Dion got from his website.

The only thing that really matters is the money, will Harry Bloy help put money into Bill Cunningham's pocket or Dr. RL's pocket. He has already endorsed YM, and shall he play on both sides of the fence, he will have no chance leading T/B to a majority on the council, not to mention his own seat to be given up 6 months following that.

Harry will probably sit on the fence throwing money to both sides

(COnservative Rl and YM and Liberal
Billy Boy).

Hopefully Harry will actually leave T/B alone, since it was his antics that started that whole mess in the first place.

If Harry Bloy seriously thinks that pledging allegiance to James Moore in the east and Billy Cunningham & Co in the west, then he is playing with fire. James Moore's EDA board director could not even get on city council against union backed candidate in the previous by-election, on wonders how much success Harry Bloy can really get by hinging half of his re-election campaign on James Moore's hand.

As for playing on both sides of the fence, that is his decision to make. But if he has the prospect to replace YM next time the candidate to beat Dawn Black, then he better secure both his seat and the tory base at the same time and not meddle with endorsing liberals.

Also, backing liberals wont help if he decides to focus his effort in Bby and wants to get T/B into a majority position so he can attempt to succeed Bby mayor. Lee Rankin will always be the pick for liberals, thus if Harry Bloy deicdes to stick himself to both parties, I dont see his political ambition lasing very long.

Many people in Burnaby hope his political antics will finally come to an end.

Just what antics are you talking about? He works hard. He ties to be visible in our riding. He has friends and contacts at other levels of gov't. And this is somehow bad?

Harry has wanted to represent a conservative/right of center constituency for a long time. That he can now do it in Victoria is great. Perhaps the previous poster would rather have had the NDP candidate in his place. It's not going to happen - so get used to it.

Harry has a tendency to chafe people's skivvies with his antics
of getting into things he shouldn't
by trying to do the power plays.

His interference in the Burnaby civic political system is well known and for many irritating.

As for his contacts at other levels in gov't, big deal. Most other MLA's have those.

"Harry has wanted to represent a conservative/right of center constituency for a long time."

So why is he endorsing Bill Cunningham, a federal Liberal??

Liberals are not right of centre.

"That he can now do it in Victoria is great. "

He can now do it? What has he been doing since 2001?

"Perhaps the previous poster would rather have had the NDP candidate in his place. It's not going to happen - so get used to it. "

Maybe, but the previous poster and Harry should realise it is up to the voters to decide whether he keeps being an MLA or not.

If a NDP candidate comes along that the voters will like, they will elect the NDP candidate.

Burquitlam does not belong to Harry Bloy. It belongs to the citizen-voters.
