Is there something in the water?

The Burnaby federal political roundup makes one think Burnaby's political talent is at the municipal or provincial level:

  1. Peter Julian wants to ban advertising to the pre-teen set. No more toy ads might make parents rejoice but there are positive forms of advertising towards children and Julian would crack down on them by the look of things.

  2. Julian's Tory opponent last time, Marc Dalton, is back in the saddle and looking to make a run for the nomination again. He even had a poorly hatched scheme to take over the board of directors for the local Conservative association. Even with his advertising ban ideas Julian should be returned if this guy is who takes him on in the election.

  3. Up north in Burnaby-Douglas, the rose-cheeked Bill Cunningham is running all over the place trying to get attention - catch him Friday night on OMNI's The Standard. Next thing he'll be renting a plane to fly his banner around town like his old rival, Mr. Democracy. If Julian is safe, Cunningham taking a third kick at the can should make the Liberals a non-factor in north Burnaby for Bill Siksay.

No wonder people are seeing the Greens as a credible fourth party. When does the draft Joe Keithley for MP campaign start?

and this was the post where the blogger shows how completely un-understanding he is of federal politics. Cunningham lost by 900 and then 1200 in two elections where the Liberals lost seats.

If the NDP poll numbers are correct then Cunningham's the new MP come election day

Not nessesarily, and don't hope for that coveted cushy chair cushy job being his flunky "yes man" in Cunningham's office.

Also comes down to the difficulty of beating an incumbent.

Svend Robinson was MP, even during times when the NDP was lower than they are now.

Siskay will take the seat. He can shed a few more votes, but it isn't
likely that he'll be defeated.

Also factor in that the Conservtive Candidate could take votes away from Cunningham.

Marc Dalton will be told not to run by Doug Finley, the Tory Director of Operations in Ottawa. They do not want that Focus on the Family crowd running several candidates in the Lower Mainland. Too much national negative media.

More importantly, where the hell are the draft beers that Keithley was supposed to bring to our table?

Burnaby is in some serious need of conservative legislators across all levels of government. first the balcony rapist. now child porn extraordinaire Kenneth Robert Klassen from Burnaby is released.

it's too bad that... there aren't more competent people running the conservative show here. that much i will admit.
