The candidates' list

The Burnaby mayoral, council, and school trustee candidates are up on the city's webpage. Three mayoral, 19 council, and 16 school trustee candidates will seek election on November 19.

Incumbent BCA mayor Derek Corrigan's only opponents are independent Tom Tao, who most recently ran in Willingdon provincially this year, and TEAM's Andrew Stewart of Donn Dean Collision.

Along with full slates from the BCA and TEAM are three independent candidates: past candidate Parvin Chami, former councilor Nancy Harris and Andrew Chisholm.

At school board level, both slates have a full roster. They are joined by independents, Rubin Price and Manjeet Sahota.

Things next door in Vancouver look more interesting with the Nude Garden Party, which is perhaps this year's Dance Party Party.

Mark Hilford from Team Burnaby doesn't live in Buraby and why he not run in Coquitlam? Marl's office is in downtown Vancouver so what is the Burnaby connection? Another Bloy Boy?

Time for a residents or property owners only rule when it comes to candidates being eligible to run.

He takes credit for winning Harry Bloy's election, you know the one he almost lost to Bart Healey who spent a quarter as much money as Bloy did... and Bloy will be able to take credit for Hilford's election if the team actually pulls off a miracle and wins

Big deal. Harry lost about 1100
votes from 2001, while the NDP dude got about 4800 more votes that what he got in 2001. Seems that Harry lost alot of support. Blame that goes on Hilford.

Hilford runs in Burnaby, but he can't vote for himself or his associates. Doesn't work in Burnaby either. So why vote for Hilford? Vote for Ron Churchill instead. Burnaby needs a clown in the council circus.

Hilford is far better qualified than many of his TEAM council running mates. Despite his shortcomings, Hilford is one of the better candidates out there. Unfortunately that says far more about the thin talent running for council rather than about Coquitlam Mark's abilities.

Coquitlam Mark seems to do very little except be critical of Corrigan The Crab. But it shows Coquitlam Mark's abilities. Which aren't enough to make him Council material. Seems that Mark is Coquitlam's finest whine.

Hey who said local politicians are qualified. Look at the gems Burnaby has had in office for the past 10 years.
Sometimes those council pics look like the Howdy Doody Show.

Look that the gems that are running for office now. Quite a few of them (mostly BCA, but Team Burnaby has a few) are junk candidates. Many not worth voting for. Some are.

Outside of the cranks.......it's hard finding a warm body to run in a civic election. Let alone finding one who actually wants to win.

Eve harder to find those who want to win and know how to do it right
