Down to the wire: Two NDP or one and a Conservative

Canada goes to the polls tomorrow. In Burnaby, odds are at least one New Democrat will be returned to Ottawa.

NDP MP Peter Julian is likely headed back to Ottawa for Burnaby-New Westminster. The only question is whether Liberal stalwart Gerry Lenoski or Conservative Sam Rakhra finishes second. Lenoski has called for Michael Ignatieff to lead his party and for Sam Rakhra to drop out of the race. Lenoski is likely an early advocate of regicide within his deeply troubled party.

In Burnaby-Douglas, where NDP MP Bill Siksay has seen visits by four prominent Liberals to help Bill Cunningham, Tory Prime Minister Stephen Harper showed up today. Radio host turned Conservative candidate Ronald Leung will likely be the one there with Siksay when the ballot boxes are counted. No matter what, tomorrow night is almost certainly strike three for the many candidacies of Bill Cunningham.

Look for Siskay to return as MP.

Getting his opponents to drop out of the race is the only technique Gerry Lenoski knows of getting himself elected. That's how he won the Liberal nomination for Bby-NW. Fortunately Sam Rakhra isn't as stupid as Lenoski's fellow Liberal opponents were. Let's hope Lenoski finishes last because that's what he deserves.

Our master blogger is right. Dr. Leung will be the one to beat for Bill Siksay. The anti-NDP split has been long enough and if we have learned any better, Bill Siksay will be gone very soon and the domino effect will soon follow. One Prime Minister's visit outshine's Bill Cunningham bringing 100 "prominent" eastern liberals to his riding. As much political muscle as Bill Cunningham has shown over this election, it will be no match for the national trend.

Notice that all of Gerry Lenoski's attacks have been aimed at Sam Rakhra. He hasn't raised a finger against Peter Julian, the man whom, in theory, he is supposed to be trying to beat. Maybe that what the secret meetings between Lenoski, Joyce Murray and Peter Julian's father, Terry, in Spring 2007 were all about. Giving Peter Julian a free ride. Lenoski has been trying very hard to come in second!

WHat a bunch of wusses. It's two NDPers as per usual.

And one had to enjoy the nonsense chatter about Leung getting a Cabinet post, and wait for it, the really early talk about how everyone who isn't NDP should get together with Bill Cunningham.

and the talk about only one candidate against the NDP, Bill Cunningham?

Geesus, kids. Learn and earn in the minor leagues before calling major league games when a strong candidates handles the puck.

Oh and Third for Billy Boy.

Time for him to hang up the skates and arrange for an interview at the TD Bank in Metrotown.
