Put the TEAM First

Former TEAM Burnaby mayoral candidate turned TEAM Burnaby campaign manager Brian Bonney has found himself in some trouble over in Coquitlam, where he seems to have also been involved in that municipality's civic election.

It appears that a civic elector organization know as Coquitlam First, the first slate in that municipality in several elections, registered to run candidates. Coquitlam First, however, failed to register on time and was not allowed to put its name on the ballot. As a result of not being an official part of the electoral process the group did not have to make a financial disclosure filing. This has caused a bit of a tempest in a teapot over in Coquitlam.

About a week ago in The Vancouver Sun, council member Richard Stewart was profiled in the West Coast section saying that the group plans to run candidates again in the 2008 elections. In that same blurb, Stewart denied plans to seek the mayor's chair.

Bonney had Rich Coleman and Harry Bloy trying to raise money for both Coquitlam First and, supposedly, TEAM Burnaby. Perhaps that's where this mysterious $107,000 came from and it may certainly be why they want to keep things hidden.

Doesn't Bonney actually figure how to do things right? This guy is a disaster.

Who would want him and his friends running a campaign?

It's also interesting that Team Burnaby paid out $52,000 in salaries to campaign workers and for council won three candidates of which two of them would have won without Team Burnaby's help.

The BCA paid out $25,000 in salaries and bagged 5 council seats even despite the BCA ran a noticeably weak campaign.

Why would anyone in Coquitlam want Brian Bonney running their campaign?

Gordon Campbell's bagman Pat Kinsella was also involved in finding financing for Burnaby's TEAM. However, there were major concerns raised about the unknown mayoral candidate and the campaign managers that caused several big donors to shy away.

If it was Kinsella, it means the Howe Street boys.

They obviously don't know the less than stellar record of Brian and the Bloy Boyz.

Wasn't that the same mayoralty candidate in Burnaby who ran on a Crime and Punishment bent... only to be discovered to be a convicted drunk driver??? One thing you have to give BCA is the grassroots, nose to the grindstone work ethic they take to each election, not just the candidates but the workers themselves. Outspent over 2 to 1 by Team Burnaby, yet they still won more seats on council and the mayoralty race in Burnaby.

Perhaps people in Burnaby have the idea in their heads, that if its not broken don't fix it. As a result, the City of Burnaby is the envy of most municipalities in the GVRD.

Same guy. Drove around in a fancy Corvette to try and impress people.

Mayor's candidate from Team Burnaby
listed his new bought suits as a campaign expense.

But TEAM Burnaby used insanely cheap wood for their signs. Ugliest pieces of wood you could ever see. Signs were poorly designed.

Have to give credit to the BCA. They're most volunteer and know how to work a campaign.

Team Burnaby on the other hand ran a expesive campaign that obviously didn't work.

Why would Team Burnaby want Brian and his friends around?

lets hope the bca declared their new underwear word has it they damaged a few sets. Had they paid for the help they forced from their frends in labour they would have far surpased the spending of team.

Some of their union help was paid out at union level rates.

BCA didn't surpass the insane level of spending of Team.

Team paid out people who should have been better off volunteering

The only way Team will be first is to get rid of the Brian Bonney Boyz and get some real talent in there that will have Team Burnaby be volunteer based and not based on friends and insiders of Harry Bloy who get paid and don't accomplish much.
