Municipal post du jour: New West edition

Municipal election filings seem to be on the B.C. political It-List this week (see Coquitlamgate). A reader in New Westminster forwarded a Royal City Record story about their filings to Burnaby Politics and pointed out the turf war between Peter Julian, the NDP MP, and Mary Pynenburg, the disgruntled ex-City Hall staffer and Liberal also-ran.

During the New West municipal race, Julian backed Mayor Wayne Wright with a donation of $150 and Alana McIntyre with a donation of $50. Pynenburg backed Bob Osterman with a donation of $200.

Wright was in the mayors chair when Pynenburg left City Hall of her own free will but is rumoured to have also received an undisclosed compensation package rumoured to be in the low six-figures.

Don't think Pynenburg left City Hall on her own free will.

The road came to an end and the only way to move on was to turn around and leave.

It was probably either resign or be fired.

She's not the sharpest pencil in
the drawer.

I did not know the details before the most recent election. But thanks to this site I was able to read the details of the slander suit that she and the city lost a few years ago. She was a senior city official. The plaintiff was a small property owner who merely wanted to subdivide his property.

Read it first - and ask yourself if Mary Pynenberg is someone you want to represent you in Ottawa?

Maybe Mary's friend and frequent Liberal nomination rival Lee Rankin can get her a new job at Burnaby City Hall so she can be a cancer survivor and city planner once again.

I'm not too sure about that part about them being "friends".

Why would Burnaby hire her? They already have a city planner.

Besides what would Mary do in her new job?

Send out emails to supporters of her next nomination using City of Burnaby email resources just like she did when she was in New Westminster.

Nope. Don't need Mary as MP.

In thinking, Peter Julian isn't exactly the best MP either.

I think Mary Pynenburg would make an excellent city planner.... for Hazzard County Georgia, home of Boss Hogg.

In terms of MP Peter Julian... one only needs to know the leanings of most posters to this site to see why the previous comment was made. The same poster probably wears an Emerson Is God shirt too. Btw... which party did Emerson run for in the last election???

Which provincial party did Ujjal Dosanih run for and which federal party did he support before 2004?

Why did Peter Julian vote AGAINST
Carly's law when it was first presented?
