Stories of the Year
Dear Burnaby Politics readers,
The year 2005 has been one full of political activity in Burnaby. Having completed a provincial campaign for four seats in the legislature and a municipal campaign for mayor, 8 councilors, and 7 school trustees, a federal election is just over three weeks away to determine who will represent Burnaby's two ridings in Ottawa.
At this time, Burnaby Politics would like to ask its many readers to chime in with their thoughts on what political happenings were the most significant. Specifically, who stood out in a crowded Burnaby political scene and what was the story of the year?

Harry Bloy's team stood out. What a bunch of idiots they were. Political backroom politics at the worst. The Trailer Park Boys would be a better bunch of nominees than the Harry Bloy Boyz. Worst of the bunch was Mark Hilford. Hilford should have ran in Coquitlam where he lives.
Saddest thing was seeing Barbara Spitz fading away from her seat on council.
There's the BCA. Once powerful the opposition shook in their shoes when they were out campaigning, and now they're wimps.
Then there's Billy Boy. Cushy political appointment and then goes to cushy annointment.
Then there's GD. Wanted to run again, but never really had the support of the riding. Doesn't put in the effort.
How about Mary Pynenburg. Another shot at being a candidate and she has to be the most bland candidate Burnaby has seen.
No excitement with the BC Liberals as per usual with Brian's blind loyalty and excessive micromanaging and sometimes comical and nutty slipups, the excitement was there in late May for the Conservative Nomination Meeting in Bby New Westiminster. You've been been to a nomination meeting until you've gone through one of those...
But an exciting year for politics it was.
2006 will be bland by comparison.
Sharpen the pencils as it will now be policy resolution writing time.
But if either the federal Liberals or the Conseratives come up short of expectations, expect the knives to be unshieved.
One of the things that stand out was Team Burnaby running a convicted drunk driver as a mayoralty candidate under a law and order ticket.
Who ended up wearing that one?
Hopefully the idiot that recommended his nomination without bothering to check first. Sources say it was someone with the initials of BB

corey and his bca have had there stay next time they will fall. He will not face the TEAM again but move on to lower ground. He knows he got lucky this time. As for a toy car if thats the type of toys he has look out for his work tools. As far as useing his toy? judgeing by the press he got it worked (just like the wraped trucks and vans of vancouver)very effective!!

Derek may run again, then maybe he'll decide maybe not. If not then the BCA will find another effective person. It'sbeen done before.
Hopefully by then then the previous poster will learn how to spell and compose properly. If the previous poster is the quality of those supporting Team Burnaby is like, then the BCA is guaranteed another majority on council.
But Team Burnaby was bad as it was in 2005. Hopefully they'll clean up their act and actually be a civic party rather than a chosen few's opportunity to earn campaign money.
