Julian: Term #2, media opportunity #1

Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian has gone on the offensive against Vancouver-Kingsway MP and new Minister David Emerson. On CKNW this afternoon, Julian discussed Emerson's change from the Liberals to the Conservatives.

Julian has asked Bernard Shapiro, Ethics Commissioner of Canada, to look into Emerson's move to the new government in light of the January 25, 2006, report by the commissioner about the Ujjal Dosanjh-Gurmant Grewal(-Tim Murphy) affair. This suggests that something was offered to Emerson for him to switch parties.

In a related note, the consul job in Chandigarh, India, still remains open, so Julian must be talking about a different offer.

The Emerson affair is another case of "Do as I say, not as I do" on the part of the Harper conservatives. More ethics and accountability????? Yeah right.

And good on Julian for calling on the ethics commissioner to look into this thing. In terms of media opportunities... prior to Julian, how many national media hits did Paul Whatshisface get in his previous terms???

And in reality, its inaccurate to say that it's Julian 2nd term but first media hit. What about the dredging of Burnaby Lake? But oops, I forgot, judging by the colours of this page (visually and in postings) it's Blue and White all the way.

Interesting that Julian is crabbing about Emerson, but there wasn't anything coming from him when Ujjal suddenly showed up as a Liberal candidate.

Anyone who thinks that there wasn't a cabinet post waiting for Ujjal when he crossed over is as
dumb as an NDPer telling those who would listen the Fastcats were a
good investment for B.C.

I don't know about Julian, but anytime I hear Ujjal's name mentioned anywhere... one word comes to mind and mouth.... SELLOUT!!

Ujjal was never truly a BC NDPer. Hell one of his biggest patrons was Herb Dhaliwal. And sorry, but he was the first NDPer to campaign like "pretty pretty please, don't eradicate us, elect enough of us to at least somewhat oppose campbell."

That's not leadership, thats capitulation. In my opinion he's right where he always should have been. But unlike Emerson, he left and joined the Phiberals prior to an election campaign, having never sat in the House of Commons, or having run under the banner of any other federal party, or lying to his own constituents.

Too bad all you Blue and Whiters out there feel so hypocratic. Why not call Emerson what you called Belinda when she left... an "opportunistic whore"????

Why don't you NDPers call Ujjal what he was when he left the NDP, an opporunitist whore?

Julian is just crying out to get publicity.

If Ujjal was not really a true BC NDPer then why did he end up as your leader?

Ujjal didn't cross over to the Liberals a year before. The cross over was done just before the election and there had to be have been something waiting for him on the Liberal side.

Heck the NDP even eat their own now with Buzz Hargrove kicked out of the Ontarion NDP.
