Talk about overcompensating for something that is too small

First it was the Andrew Stewart Corvette with huge signage on it. That was somewhat of a cool trick. Now to accompany to fast car is the big sign. TEAM Burnaby has a three sign display at locations around Burnaby. The signs tell voters that Burnaby's issue is crime, Burnaby's crime problem rivals Surrey's infamous crime problem, and TEAM Burnaby will fight crime.

Huge signs at prominent locations throughout Burnaby began promoting this message on Sunday. At a debate last week, TEAM's crime message, which was on display in a large pamplet format, was harshly criticized by Derek Corrigan's BCA for being based on questionable facts. This story, like the Corvette one, was picked up by Saturday's Burnaby Now.

Unlike previous TEAM signage, the new red and white signs can be read while passing by in a moving car.

As for the story, wasn't it some Team Burnaby types whining about the Burnaby Now being biased a few weeks ago?

What a bunch of hypocrites.

A 52% tax increase when in fact it was proven to be around 12% to 16% is a questionable fact.

Typical crap from Team Burnaby.

Also consider that since property taxes are based on the valuation of the property, there's been an accrued increase in property taxes as well.

The present mayor has to go, anyone that tries to kill the RAV line when two such lines run through Burnaby is ridiculous. Has anyone been on the trans canada highway lately? its more of a parking lot now. Need to twin the bridge, no real choice but the major doesn't want it.

Present mayor has to go, but the Team Burnaby Mayor candidate doesn't cut it. He and his principal operands are way too close to the BC Liberal Party.

Stewart doesn't have any civic
experience and this guy wants the
top job?

Get real. He needs a tour as a council person first.

and to think he may reley on the
Campaign Chair for political advice if he gets elected.

That Campaign Chair guy can't even get a simple thing as sign design straight.

I'm on the Trans-Canada Highway
every day.

Don't blame Corrigan. Blame the
federal Liberal element (Lee Rankin, Ron Churchill, their policy guy, and supporters such as
Billy Cunningham for not pushing
on the federal Liberals to give back gas tax money in amounts that
would pay for at least 1/2 the cost of the twinning and freeway widening.

If the dumb federal Liberals did,
the Second Port Mann Bridge would
be paid for.

Doens't matter if Corrigan doesn't
want the expansion or not. The land needed for the freeway widening is already there and public opinion is against him.

There's nothing he can do to stop it.

Stewart just doesn't have what it
takes to run a large city.

The BC Liberal hacks such as Bonney, and Robertson will have too much influence on City Hall, and that will be very bad for Burnaby.

The signs really stand out and get the point across compared to the bland and dilapidated BCA signs as well as the busy initial Team Burnaby signs that were put up.
It's a good move from TB since this issue hits a chord with Joe Shmo. Regardless of all the stats Corrigan quotes on how safe this city has become you can't convince people who see the facts with their own eyes either through personally being a victim of thieves or by reading the paper and seeing stories about shootings at a night club on the Lougheed, shooting at Lougheed Mall resulting in schools being locked down or the disgusting story about a senior getting roughed up and robbed while changing his flat tire in broad daylight.
All of this just in the past week.

Same incidents would have happened anyway even with more police officers. There's actually more property crime than violent crime.

This is just one issue, even though it is an important one.

So T/B has brought out the fact that Burnaby needs more RCMP officers. Big deal. Everyone knows
that.

What would these nuts do to actually run the city? Cater to
the wishes of the provincial MLA's
(simply beacuse many of the key
workers are BC Liberal hacks?)

No thanks.

It might hit a chord with Joe Schmo, but Joe and Mary Sixpack want to see efficient and effective civic government representing all people, not just
BC Liberal or federal Liberal supporters.

"Same incidents would have happened anyway even with more police officers."
That's your opinion. No one has that crystal ball.

We are not fighting the last provincial election here. Who else do you expect to take a stand against Corrigan? Some old NDP hacks?
Many TB people have supported various parties provincially (NDP and BCL). Cant say that about the NDP backed BCA who take every opportuntity to not work with higher levels of government. If you want to look at hacks look at Momma Redman working on Calendino's provincial campaign or Calendino running for council when he got his butt kicked twice in a row in Burnaby North. Obviously city hall is not where he wants to be otherwise he would stop running provincially.
If Corrigan was such a good mayor he should have noticed the police problem earlier than this year and done something about it. That’s what a good leader does whether a leader of a business or a city.
If as he claims there were no police to be found then he should have done something about it and looked for other alternatives. Not sat on his thumb.
