Two Steves beat a Jack; Billy on the comeback trail?
Stephane Dion joins Stephen Harper, Jack Layton, Gilles Duceppe, and Elizabeth May as the leaders who will fight the 40th Canadian general election, whenever that may be. The Mark Marissen machine that took Paul Martin to the top of the mountain is back after a horrible 2005. Now the question local is can Billy Cunningham get a third crack at Burnaby-Douglas?

The bigger question is..
Will Marissen and company ensure that Billy Boy gets an appointment to be the candidate, rather than having poor Bill face a real nomination contest?
Another guess is that Billy Boy will end up with a paid political hack job
that doens't mean anything useful.
even if i were a Liberal i would hope that this guy is permanently barred from the Liberal nomination in Burnaby.
he's only second place because our candidate is about as crappy as him. Burnaby on the federal scene had been rather lethargic for a long time. it's either government backbenchers or uninspiring opposition critics. (opposition critics, like Chuck Cadman, could be inspiring, except there's no one of that caliber in Burnaby)
The provincial level in Burnaby is
just as bad.
The civic level is the worst.
Billy Boy will only get a pass from Dion if he picks up a dual citizenship of France like Dion.
Billy boy will be appointed. Marissen will make sure of that.
Be there when it happens.
The Liberals aren't "new" or "nouveau" in everything.
old habits are hard to get rid of and the Liberals will have a very hard time of getting rid of the habit of appointing candidates.
I doubt that even Billy wants to run again.
Hopefully the Burnaby Douglas Liberals
don't want him to run again.
