Campbell and Dim Sum

The BC Liberals are organizing an event in Burnaby for the Chinese community, natural supporters of the BC Liberals, in early autumn.. The event is a dim sum event at a south Burnaby Chinese restaurant where Premier Gordon Campbell can interact with Burnaby's sizable Chinese-Canadian community, a group the party needs to wipe the NDP off the map in the Lower Mainland. Chinese outreach party organizer Pato Chan, who is also an advisor to new Vancouver-Kingsway federal Liberal nominee Wendy Yuan, is spearheading the effort for the four Burnaby Liberal riding associations.

Pato did manage Richard Lee's campaign in both 2001 and 2005.

The event will most likely be at the large Chinese restaurant in
Metrotown since Richard has had a few large events there.

Gordon will probably interact with those who give the most money more than just the recent ticket buyer and will be sitting not with the ordinary crowd, but the table with the select few such as John, Richard, Harry, the political hacks...

Gordon should sit with the ordinary folk, not those who want to be seen with the Premier.

The NDP won;t be wiped off the map in the Lwr. Mainland.

The days of the 78 seats for the BC Liberals are gone for good.

A good strong goverment needs a good opposition to keep it on its toes and to slap it around when nessesary.

Wendy Yuan isn't guaranteed a win in Kingsway. Many hope Ian Waddell takes the seat.

Why would anyone consider the Chinese community to be "natural supporters of the BC Liberal Party?"

Many Chinese people vote NDP and should be respected if they choose do so, just as those Chinese who vote BC Liberal should be respected.

Comments like "The BC Liberals are organizing an event in Burnaby for the Chinese community, natural supporters of the BC Liberals.." is insulting, but not unexpected from the self-important concieted
local BC Liberals.

The majority of Chinese are entrepreneurial, innovative and hard working buisness people. A group not in the NDP’s target demographic.

The statement indicates that "naturally" the Chinese would be supportive of the BC Liberals. That's not the case for many and
is a bit concieted.

Quite a few Chinese people work the trades and are union people.

If the statement was true, then Jenny Kwan would be completely off the map since there is a large Chinese population in her riding.

That's not going to happen.

Most of Jenny's supporters are the unfortunates that are in the downtown east side. Look at all the homeless people that are rounded up into chartered buses on election day by the NDP to vote for her at the polls.
Does she have Chinese supporters? Of course but it's a minor part of her support.

Actually that's not entirely true since there is a large volume of Chinese-Canadians there compared to other ridings. The volume of Chinese-Canadians living there is enough to carry her vote.

As for rounding up on chartered buses, where was that actually done? Were there buses actually seen at the poll stations?

Never read a bigger bunch of bullshit in all my life then the above comments about the chinese community being natural supporters of the BC Fiberals. You talk about taking an entire community for granted, lumping them into one group. That's as ignorant and arrogant as you can get.

Then the person goes even further, by stating:

Is that an implication that only homeless people and down on their luck types vote NDP?? Or an assumption that that's who they vote for. Maybe you should track down hedy fry out on her leadership tour, and find out where the next cross burnings are taking place in Prince George. Because those 2 points are as outlandish as those accusations.

That's like saying that all drunk drivers vote for Gordon Campbell, because he can get off for committing a crime. Total absolute rubbish!!!!!

perhaps some drunk drivers did vote for for Gordon Campbell. Statistically quite a few alcoholics did vote for Campbell.

But that's okay. Both get into the spirit of things anyway.
