The Advanced Vote
The first day of advanced voting had little of interest to Burnaby voters. In Douglas, Billy Cunningham sent word to the poll that he would be arriving with media to record his vote. When he arrived to vote only a campaign helper with a camera was there to capture the moment as the Liberal candidate decided what candidate deserved his vote.
In Burnaby-New Westminster, word is only Marc Dalton had scrutineers watching the first day of the vote.
Today, Peter Julian and Marc Dalton both had volunteers out waving signs in support of their candidacies. Julian's NDP crew of high schoolers were waving in front of his office on Kingsway near Gilley. Dalton was down in New Westminster with Paul Forseth near the Quay at the foot of 8th Street.

Does anyone know if George voted and who he voted for?
Has anyone heard of the results of any of the party polling in BD. Would be interesting to see the the current polls say. I would say a neck and neck race between Siksay and Cunningham with George about 15-20 points behind but what do I know.
Not much, as GD is probably surging and drawing support away from BC.
Hopefuly, as of January 24th,
BC will be thrown out of his cushy political appointment and back into the real world.
My guess is it will be closer than the previous guestimate of 15%. The writer is probably right about the order of finish, but first to thrird will be no more that half the above % mark. Despite everything mentioned on this site and elsewhere about the CP non-campaign in BD, George is going to do quite well. This one just might have been his to lose. Had he done any bridge-building to other communities in Burnaby over the last two or three years; had he put any kind of a campaign team together and got his mojo going early; had he done the kind of doorknocking in this riding that Svend always did, he could have won this one.
It is obvious that both the dippers and the crooks wanted to win this riding more that George.
As it is, I would say BS wins it. BC is about 1000 votes back and GD a further 500 behind BC.
Just what Burnaby Douglas needs..
More BS.
BS wins.
George begins continuing with his new business adventure.
Billy Boy begins to write his
resume.
Please advance vote tomorrow, especially if you're voting conservative.
Does anyone know why Siksay voted against this?

Optics dont look good for him
Pretty obvious party discipline got pulled on that one. Wonder what Peter Stoffer got as punishment...
Remeber that 1984 was a big Mulroney sweep but also Svend's largest vote haul!
Any good Conservative candidate could have won, but hard work is always a requirement. Having your mother push you into something your heart's not into rarely leads to success. There just aren't enough Croatians to win a general election in a district that includes areas more than 4 blocks from Hastings.
Just got a look at Georgie Boy's picture on his campaign literature.
What's the significance of his picture taken in a Wind Farm?
What does that have to do with this riding?
Politicians generate wind.
Both top and bottom.
Georgie Boy's whole campaign is a shameless plug for his alternative energy company.
Billy Boy's campaign is a shameless plug for his politial patronage.
Good grief the guy in the picture is butt ugly.
The guy in the previous post is ugly. The picture should be removed.
