Expected result. This is actually the best of the lot. None of the Bloy Boyz got elected, and some of the more siller BCA candidates didn't get elected either. This should be a good mix. Since the ones from Team Burnaby are well known (except Garth) in the community for their work, and have no ties to the Bloy Boyz. Lee Rankin and most of the others elected from Team Burnaby would have won anyway, and didn't need to be a part of the trash campaign put on by Team Burnaby.
The trash campaign from Team Burnaby didn't work, pure and simple.
Watch for silly statements from Team Burnaby such as
"We'll be working towards defeating BCA next time"
If Team Burnaby does, one hopes it is with much better campaigning more positive based, a complete overhaul from what they have done in the past.
"We gained ground with our campaign"
and other self-congratulatory tripe desgined to massage backs.
One wonders how many votes were lost due to the DUI thing with Stewart. Even if everyone picked up 2-300 votes it would have put more Team Burnaby candidates into council. I hear many who were leaning Team Burnaby did not even vote on Saturday after hearing the news.
Wonder who will wear that one. Wasnt this guy checked out.
It's interesting to see how Lee Rankin got almost as many votes as Corrigan. I assume if Stewart had not had his DD problem Corrigan would have gotten less votes and Rankin could very well have topped Corrigan.
Looks like he might be able to run successfully for mayor next time around.
Stewart's DUI had very little affect on his loss. People's minds were made up before the story broke open.
Team Burnaby brought out the issue of crime, but other than that, they ran a very stupidly managed campaign.
To figure that Stewart would be able to run for mayor next time around is being naive. Stewart is not mayor material. Having the Corvette made up was being a bit of a show off act.
If Team Burnaby was to crack through their abyss of stupidity
they should be on a replacement and revision program starting this week. Replace the campaign chair and the campaign manager they had with people who know how to campaign properly without causing embarrassment to the candidates.
This is the third time that Team Burnaby has run campaigns with idiotic and simply stupid and sloppy tactics.
Hopefully they will be able to find a much better quality campaign management team and run a higher quality campaign next time around.
I think the poster meant Lee Rankin running for mayor next time Not Stewart. Who knows tell will tell.
Lee ran for Mayor before and lost.

If you check the polls Rankin has widespread support in the city. Thats what you need. Stewart never had that.
The Drunk Driving Stewart probably saved Volkow's bacon.
Is he the guy who leaked it? He was the guy who was all over Hilford for living in Coquitlam when the guy didn't have a hope in hell of winning.
Rankin has widespread support, but Rankin has an ego larger than Robert Burnaby Park. Rankin has done alot of good things, but that doesn't nessesarily mean he's mayor material. Same rink, but different hockey game in a different league.
As for Hilford, wouldn't blame Volkow. He was just stating the obvious. Hilford was a Harry Bloy Boy who was the result of a dumb error politically. Hilford should have run in Coquitlam where he belongs. He has had no interest in Burnaby other than helping Harry Bloy get re-elected. Big deal.
If Hilford had a business here in Burnaby then his candidancy would have some legitamacy to it. But he doesn't and so the rest of the story is most likely..
He was one that Harry wanted to be elected to Council and Brian (Harry's knee puppet) helped him get the nomination for Team Burnaby.
If there's anyone Hilford should blame for his results, Hilford should look in the mirror.
Yeah well what about Richard Lee he lives in Vancouver.
and he's now a School Trustee for Burnaby. The civic election in Burnaby. It's over and done.
