Third time's a charm

NDP leader Carole James wants to take a third run at becoming Premier in 2013.

What does Derek Corrigan think about her trying a third time?

Does it matter what Derek Corrigan thinks?? We went through this last spring. Some idiots figured Corrigan would take a run at a supposed leadership to make it to being NDP leader in time for the 2009 election which a few TB types figured that would be the opportunity for them for an easy win to the mayor's chair. Did not happen.

Corrigan even if he ran for the leadership wouldn't make it past the second ballot.

Let it go and time to move on.

Corrigan wouldn't get elected anywhere outside the Burnaby City limits. Except possibly East Van or the Downtown Eastside.

He is looked at as someone who appears shifty and hiding something. If the electorate doesn't trust you as a leader you are nowhere.

Not bad, but Corrigan is obviously happy being Mayor.

There's some BC Liberals elected who look like they're hiding something.

Harry Bloy comes to mind.

Hiding something?
Like in his pants, or what?

Do tell, you scurrilous little wag!
The suspense is killing me.

Hey Sherlock, you don't get it. Nobody cares what he does. The guy has had two big losses in the past six months. The voters have spoken.

Good for Lee. Maybe finally he's realized what we already know.

His time in politics has come to an end.

Although Rankin looks like he will run at anything that looks mildly winnable.

Really......... losing a couple of elections is not a disgrace. Look at all the NDP and BCA candidates in Burnaby who continue to run until they fluke a win due to circumstances that don't involve their capabilities.

Get off of Rankin's back on this one.

Losing two elections within a year is dedfiantely a disgrace. It should send a message to him and especially his campaign manager.

Rankin did poorly in the South Slope in the civic election, and he should have done his homework.

It's also difficult to unseat an incumbent.

He's also made it more difficult to
get the riding back because his result is -2036 votes. In 2005, Patti Sahota was -530 votes.

Face the facts, sunshine, the campaign of Lee Rankin was a disaster waiting to happen, and it did.

Going to be very tough to find 2600additional votes for the BC Liberals next time around.

And hopefully the candidate then won't listen to schmuck that ran Rankin's campaign and get someone who knows how to do it right.

No one likes to hit a guy when he is down, but Rankin really did screw up. Team Burnaby became his own personal toy to get to the mayors office. Nothing else mattered. He and "the wife" controlled everything.
In Edmonds, he screwed up again. He just doesn't believe that voters won't trust his judgement any more. That what happens that business. I wouldn't be surprised if he moved out of Burnaby like Andrew Stewart.

Wouldn't surprise alot of people.

and if he does, he can take the schmuck who ran his campaign with him.

and yes Team Burnaby was his own personal toy to get into the Mayor's office. Nothing else mattered.

Stab the incumbent TB clowncillors in the back and get your own people in there as replacements.

Don't win, get those same idiots in on your provincial campaign, add in some schmuck who figures he knows how to win campaigns.

Nice way to do politics.

A textbook example.

Learn from what he did. Many will.

Some very nice comments about Lee from the bloggers at the Burnaby Now this weekend.

Politics in Burnaby is so full of such nice people, unlike other places.

Only one comment, and she obviously hasn't worked out in the field.

Kind of soppy "gee sorry you lost", and then a few weeks later forgotten about.

Who would Lee possibly run for next time? The NDP won't take him,
the federal Liberals aren't interested in him anymore and he's certainly no Conservative.

Maybe the Green Party will take him. Would be alot easier to take than if Foghorn Friesen decides to honk during the federal election.
